HTML <blockquote> tag

The <blockquote> tag is used for displaying long quotations. The browser will automatically create space before and after a blockquote element as well as margin on the left and right side of the text within the blockquote element.

Attributes

Attribute Possible values Description
cite URL The URL the quote is taken from

NOTE: The cite attribute doesn't function corectly in any of the major browsers.

Standard attributes

class, dir, id, lang, style, title, xml:lang

Tips & notes

Use the <blockquote> tag for long quotations and the <q> tag for short quotations.

Remember to always put quote marks around quotes!
